New books and what I am reading in June

Due to work being really busy and me not having a lot of time, I just finished 2 books in May.. One of them was a re-read, The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett and I still love it! It's always great to be back on the Discworld.

I also read The Emperor's Blades by Brian Staveley, which is the start of a new epic fantasy series that received many enthusiastic reviews so far. I was curious and expected a lot. In the end I was very disappointed and will not continue reading the series. A review will come.

So right now I am 119 pages into Horns by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son!) and like it so far! The story is a contemporary dark fantasy tale with a bit of horror elements thrown into the mix. It also has a little bit of a thriller vibe to me. The main character, Ig Perrish, is a suspect in murdering his girlfriend Merrin and although it's pretty clear to the reader that he didn't commit the murder, everyone in his hometown has no doubt about it. One morning Ig discovers horns growing out of his head and finds out that people tell him their darkest secrets and what they really think about him. Interesting situation, right?
At the moment I am reading about how Ig met his girlfriend Merrin and can't wait to go on with the story!

I also read a fair bit of The Stand by Stephen King and am now up to 30%. The last pages have been great and I enjoy reading about all different perspectives, especially Stu's and Nick Andros' but I would love for some of the characters who are wandering around to finally meet up with each other.

I got a few new books the last month:

The Year of the Flood (MaddAddam Trilogy 2) by Margaret Atwood
--> I want to finish this trilogy pretty soon as all 3 books are published already.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik
--> I have been waiting for this and am very excited! Also have to admit that I already started reading and am 5% into it already. It's a great read so far and promises to be very magical.

Also one of the books I am really looking forward to will be published in June. It's The Master Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg, the last part of a trilogy and I can't wait to get my hands on it :)
